Everything you need to know about your Karuah holiday
Do you have a park map?
We certainly do! You can view and download our digital park map right here on our website, or we will provide you with a printed copy at reception upon your arrival to help you find your way around our 28-acre grounds.
Do you accept dogs at your park?
Yes, we are a dog-friendly holiday park. We welcome pets on all of our caravan and camping sites with prior management approval. We also have selected pet-friendly cabins available for guests travelling with their furry friends. You can find more details and our pet policy on our dedicated dog-friendly page.
When can I check-in and when do I have to check-out?
Check-in is available after 3.00 pm for villas and ensuite sites, and after 11.00 am for all other powered and unpowered sites. Check-out is strictly by 10.00 am on the day of your departure to allow our team to prepare for arriving guests.
Do you have any wheelchair accessible accommodation?
We do not have any wheelchair accessible cabins or villas at this stage. However, we do provide a fully accessible bathroom in our main campground amenities block for guests staying on our caravan and camping sites. Please contact our team if you have specific mobility requirements.
Do we need to bring our own linen for the cabin accommodation?
No you don't need to bring linen - we provide all linen for every bed in our villas and cabins, along with bath towels. We recommend that guests bring their own pool or beach towels for use at our swimming pool and splash play area.
Do you allow camp fires?
We do not permit individual campfires on sites, including cooking over coal or open flames, due to our proximity to a residential area. In the cooler months, our staff light a large communal fire pit near the camp kitchen on Friday and Saturday afternoons. This is a great spot to meet other guests and is well-stocked with firewood, subject to local fire conditions.
What facilities do you have for children?
There is plenty to keep kids entertained, including a giant 20-metre jumping pillow, a children's playground, and a resort-style swimming pool with a splash play area. We also have pedal go-karts available for hire and run school holiday activity programs.
What size are your sites for caravans, motorhomes and big rigs?
We offer a wide range of powered caravan and camping sites, including large concrete pads and drive-through sites. Because every rig is different, we recommend checking with our team during the booking process to ensure we allocate a site that perfectly fits your specific requirements.
Can you fish at BIG4 Karuah Jetty?
Yes, you can fish directly from our private 250-metre-long jetty on the Karuah River. The river is a popular spot for catching flathead, bream, and jewfish. The jetty provides safe and easy access for families and serious anglers alike.
How far are you from the beach?
The closest patrolled swimming beaches are located at Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens, which are approximately a 25-minute drive from the park. There is also a popular tidal pool in Karuah at Longworth Park, and our park features its own private jetty for river access. Please note it's not generally recommended for swimming due to mangroves and oyster shells in the area.
Is there a restaurant or cafe on-site?
While we do not have a full-service restaurant, we have a wonderful coffee van that operates during school holidays and on weekends from 7.30 am. For dinner, we highly recommend the local Karuah RSL, which offers a free courtesy bus for our guests.
Can we have day visitors at the park?
Day visitors are welcome (subject to seasonal restrictions*) and there is a day pass available which is $10 per person. Day visitors are permitted in the park until 8pm, after that time they would be charged a nightly rate. Children must be fully supervised by their parent/guardian and an adult must be present in the pool area at all times. All visitors vehicles must remain outside the boom gate. Please call and check with Reception if we are allowing day visitors on (02) 4997 5520.
*We don’t allow day visitors through the school holidays and it is dependent on how busy the park is on the weekends.
Do you have internet access?
Yes, we provide free WiFi for all guests, with up to 500MB of data available per day. This service is ideal for checking emails and social media. Please note that the connection is not suitable for high-bandwidth activities like streaming Netflix.
What hours is your office open?
Our regular office hours are 8.00 am to 5.00 pm every day. Seasonal office hours of 9.00 am to 5.00 pm do sometimes apply, so we recommend checking our current hours with our staff if you are planning an early or late arrival.
Can I arrive after the office is closed?
Yes, we can make arrangements if we know in advance. If you are arriving outside office hours, please call us during reception hours on (02) 4997 5520 to make alternate arrangements. Please note all bookings must be paid in full prior to after-hours check-in.
Do you have noise restrictions?
To ensure all guests enjoy a peaceful riverside stay, we have a strict "no loud noise" policy between 10.00 pm and 7.00 am. We ask that all guests consider their neighbours and keep music and social noise to a minimum during these quiet hours.
Can children ride bikes and scooters in the park?
Absolutely! We encourage kids to bring their bikes and scooters, provided they wear helmets at all times. For safety reasons, bikes and scooters are not permitted on or near the jumping pillow area. We also have pedal go-karts available for hire from reception.
What is your cancellation policy?
Our cancellation policy varies depending on the time of year and the type of booking. For full details on our current policies, please visit our dedicated Terms and Conditions page.
Do you have a loyalty program?
Yes, we are a proud member of the BIG4 network. BIG4 Perks+ members receive a 10% discount (up to $50 per stay) and gain access to a variety of other membership benefits and local partner discounts.
What laundry facilities are available?
There is a guest laundry located in the amenities block nearest to reception. The machines are coin-operated ($1 and $2 coins) and cost $4 per load for both washing machines and dryers.
Do you have BBQ facilities and a camp kitchen?
Yes, we have three dedicated BBQ areas and a large, covered, open-air camp kitchen. The kitchen includes a cooktop, BBQ plates, toaster, kettle, fridge, and microwave. We simply ask that guests bring along their own cooking gear, plates and utensils.
Do you have a dump point?
Yes, we have a clean and accessible dump point available for all guests staying in the park. It is conveniently located near the main amenities block for easy access.
What credit cards do you accept?
We accept Visa and MasterCard for all bookings and kiosk purchases. Please note that some automated facilities in the park, such as the guest laundry, require coins ($1 and $2).
Do you have permanent sites?
Adjacent to our holiday park is the Karuah Waters Estate, which is an over-50s manufactured home village. It features modern, architect-designed park homes and is operated under the NSW Government Residential Communities Act.
Do you get sandflies at the park?
From time to time when there is hot and humid weather, we do get sandflies in this tidal mangrove river area. All our accommodation is fitted with insect screens, but we do suggest for those who react to sandflies to be prepared with insect spray if you are enjoying the balcony and outdoors around sunset when they are most active. We have insect repellent available at Reception and there is also a Pharmacy and IGA supermarket in town.
What if I have a complaint?
We strive for a positive guest experience every time. If there is anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable, please let us know while you are still here so we can address your concerns immediately.
What if I need assistance out of hours?
We have an on-site park caretaker available for emergencies. A contact number for the caretaker is available at reception and is also provided on the park map you receive upon check-in.
