Easy fishing on the Karuah River
Ready to drop a line? Fishing is effortless from our private jetty, with the river well known for flathead, bream, and jewfish.
- While we encourage guests to bring their own fishing gear, rod hire is available from reception for $20 an hour (subject to availability).
- We also stock frozen bait at reception - including prawns, squid, and pilchards - so you have everything you need for a great catch.
- Once you have reeled in dinner, you can cook it up at one of our nearby BBQ areas or in the Camp Kitchen.
Boat launching, moorings, and site parking
If you are bringing a boat on holiday, you can easily launch at the public Karuah town boat ramp at Memorial Park, just a few minutes from our entrance. Once launched, you can tie up to our jetty during the day for quick access to your accommodation or for a quick lunch break.
- Boat moorings - We offer dedicated boat moorings along our private jetty for larger vessels. Please contact our reception team directly on (02) 4997 5520 to discuss availability and bookings.
- On-site boat parking - Most sites and villas accommodate one vehicle. However, selected sites feature longer driveways suitable for a boat trailer. If your boat and car cannot fit on your allocated site together, you are welcome to park your boat on-site and place your vehicle in our visitor car park or front street parking.
For any specific site information or to discuss your booking, please get in touch with our friendly team via bookings@big4karuahjetty.com.au.
The heart of the park
Our private jetty is more than just a place to fish - it's the heart of our park. Come and dangle your legs over the edge, take a swim in the river, or simply enjoy the peaceful surrounds with a morning coffee.
Frequently asked questions about the jetty
Can you fish off the private jetty at BIG4 Karuah Jetty?
Yes, guests can fish directly from our 250-metre private jetty on the Karuah River, which is a popular spot for catching flathead, bream, and jewfish. Frozen bait such as prawns, squid, and pilchards is available at reception alongside fishing rod hire for $20 per hour (subject to availability).
Can I launch or moor a boat at the park?
Boats can be launched at the public Karuah town boat ramp at Memorial Park, located just a short drive from the park. Guests can tie up to our jetty during the day for quick access, or book one of our dedicated overnight boat moorings for larger vessels by calling reception on (02) 4997 5520.
Can you swim off the private jetty?
While guests are welcome to relax by the water, swimming directly off the private jetty is not generally recommended due to natural mangroves and oyster shells in the riverbed. For swimming, we recommend using our resort-style pool and splash play area, visiting the Karuah tidal pool at Longworth Park, or taking a 25-minute drive to the patrolled ocean beaches at Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens.
Does the private jetty have railings and is it safe for children?
Our 250-metre jetty is designed without handrails to give guests an open, unobstructed fishing experience and clear views across the Karuah River. To ensure safety, the deck is built extra wide to meet all regulations and undergoes annual safety inspections and certifications by relevant authorities. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
